Made using traditional methods, this tallow candle features a flax wick. Flax wick was used for many centuries but saw its demises around 1830 in favour of the "modern" wick.
Tallow (animal fat) was traditionally used by the poorer in society. Due to being made of fat these candles have a very greasy feel to them. When burning they smell strongly of animal fat. Also tallow will run slightly down the side of the candle (gutter) as it is being burnt. The wick will also need trimming periodically.
Please keep these candles in a cool place when not in use, and in an airtight container as they can attract vermin otherwise.
Also please do not put candles in a draft when lit.
These candles are made on average the size of a dinner candle. However if you would like other dimensions please contact us. We will then be able to let you know the price and dispatch time of your candles.
These candles are £6 per pack of two.
