Tallow (animal fat) was traditionally used by the poorer in society.
Due to being made of fat these candles have a very greasy feel to them. When burning they smell strongly of animal fat. Also tallow will run slightly down the side of the candle (gutter) while it is being burnt.
Please keep these candles in a cool place when not in use. Also keep them in an airtight container otherwise they may attract vermin.
